shorts are too casual for a first date unless you're going hiking or to the
beach. Shirts MUST have sleeves, preferably something with buttons (button down
or polo). Remember no ties.

khaki shorts but not too baggy and shirts. over 90% of the ladies polled said
that “khakis or shorts with a polo shirt” was the outfit they most preferred
dudes to wear on summer dates.
